"We wouldn't be able to recognize when we had passed the borders of art if they existed since they lack form, color, or scent. Everything around you has art, if that's what you're looking for. primarily in the individuality of a style, given that a person is first and foremost a style. People, as made and embodied by the Creator himself, are, in my opinion, the most beautiful piece of art. Although it might be roughly understood at a given time and location, art is always the same." Dragan Ilic Di Vogo

37 Masterpieces By Vincent Hui | A Contemporary Surrealist From Hong Kong

Vincent Hui's Paintings

Vincent Hui, A Contemporary Surrealist artist hailing from Hong Kong, takes us on a journey through the realms of grotesque, surrealism, and pathology, unveiling illustrations that feel like a descent into the abyss of bad dreams and unsettling trips. Within the twisted beauty of his creations lies an aesthetic pleasure, a confrontation with the unsettling aspects of one's own subconscious.

Steeped in controlled chaos, Vincent Hui's art stands as a unique beacon, challenging other illustrators to capture the intricate dance of disorder that flows effortlessly from his creative well. Having undergone education at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Hui marries elements of steampunk culture and surrealism, crafting a world that beckons viewers into its intricate and tumultuous embrace. His canvases often host a symphony of loosely connected subjects, each portraying a spectrum of divergent emotions.

One painting may feature a faceless, absorbed young boy engrossed in reading, seated beside his formally attired father and demure mother. Vincent Hui's creations are a paradoxical blend of confusion and illumination. Instead of demanding understanding of the entire piece, the focus lies in appreciating the individual components that collectively form his unique tapestry. His mastery in seamlessly blending diverse styles heralds the rise of an illustrator destined for a luminous future in the dynamic realm of art.

Artist Michael Cheval ( Mikhail Khokhlachev) - Russian Surrealist Artist

Artist Michael Cheval

Mikhail Khokhlachev is a Russian surrealist artist. Also known as Michael Cheval.( Художник Михаил Хохлачев )
was born in 1966 in Kotelnikovo, managed to live in many countries for his creative life, including: Russia, Turkmenistan, Germany, the USA. It can be said that the study of cultures of different countries greatly influenced his work. Germany instilled a love of magnificent and mystical castles, Turkmenistan eastern philosophy, Russia a breadth of soul, the United States the art of Western culture. Mikhail Khokhlachev creates real modern masterpieces of painting. Surrealism of the artist is clear and transparent, some works are saturated with irony, others with a certain symbolism.

In the paintings of Mikhail Khokhlachev, the third dimension is born. He so skillfully connects various objects and creates such metamorphoses with them that truly you begin to get drawn into the depths of the drawn story. Despite the fact that Mikhail is a surrealist artist, his paintings do not at all resemble the paintings of another famous surrealist Salvador Dali. On the contrary, it is so original that it is difficult to compare it with someone else. He himself calls his work an absurd painting. Absurd painting is an inverted reality, a mirror side of logic and reality. The main thing in his paintings is a flight of imagination, a game of imagination, a journey into the fabulous world of illusions.

The first exhibition was held in 1990 in Turkmenistan. In his 24 years, Mikhail Khokhlachev became a famous painter. After that, he moved to Russia, worked as an illustrator in magazines, as well as a freelance artist. In 1997, Mikhail Khokhlachev moved to the United States, where he became a member of the prestigious art club. Exhibitions of his paintings are still held in various galleries in New York.
