Artist David Michael Bowers is a contemporary American painter and illustrator b1956 in Chambersburg,Pennsylvania in the united states, David finished his study from Pittsburgh Art-School at (1979). He began working as an assistant at various art studios in Pennsylvania and two years later, the artist began teaching art on his own at the Pittsburgh Institute of Art. There he lectured for about ten years, and then began his career as an illustrator. He mainly worked for New York book publishers.
David studied 17th century Dutch artists over the years to develop his own painting technique. David's technique includes several layers called glazing and alla prima. This approach may be old, but his paintings include contemporary themes and current symbolism, which the artist himself describes as "realism with an edge." In any of his paintings there is always an encrypted message. ForDavid and the idea is the most complex and meaningful part of the picture, and symbolism is the main ingredient in the works. Bauer's
paintings are in many private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe, as well as the Museum of American Illustration in New York and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.
