Surreal oil paintings by Chie Yoshii
Chie Yoshii ( アーティスト吉井千恵 ) is a Contemporary Japanese artist. She was born in 1974 in Kochi, Japan. In 2000, she moved to the United States to pursue her Bachelor of Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art, and from 2002 to 2008, Chie studied with the realist artist Adrian Gottlieb. Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries around the world, including the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Italy, the Urban Nation Gallery in Germany, Thinkspace in Los Angeles, and William Baczek Fine Arts in Northampton, Massachusetts. Chie Yosii currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
Much of her work is inspired by the relationship between human psychology and mythical archetypes. Her surreal works, filled with symbols and visual narratives, are woven from a multitude of unrelated universal themes. Mysterious imagery connects conflicting elements such as novelty and nostalgia, innocence and sensuality, as well as strength and fragility, reflecting the complexity of our psyche.
