Artist Ai Xuan
a talented Chinese artist, was born on November 11, 1947 in Chinhua City, Zhejiang Province. In 1967, he graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts. His works participated in national exhibitions and unanimously received awards.
In 1987, Ai Xuan spent a year in the United States studying at the University of Oklahoma City. During his studies, he was able to meet with several famous artists and held several of his personal exhibitions. Ai also visited the United Kingdom to participate in an auction organized to raise funds for the restoration of the Great Wall of China.
He was best known for his paintings from the life of Tibet, especially the series about the children of Tibet. Ai Xuan visited Tibet many times, where he was attracted to the white landscapes of the mountain peaks. The artist fills his paintings with the charm of Chinese classical art - transparent colors make the picture an echo of the nature of Tibet.
He currently lives in Beijing, teaches at the Beijing Institute of Painting and is a member of the Chinese Union of Artists.
