Derek Harrison's Paintings

For the most of his life, Derek Harrison has been an artist. It all started with multi-media experimental art. These included illustration, tattooing, spray painting, watercolor, and finally oil painting. a wide range of media explored as a budding artist learning his trade. Derek's art has come to represent the breathtaking grandeur of Western America, having spent much of his time painting the deserts, mountains, and beaches of California, Colorado, and other states in the region. Derek Harrison paints still lifes, landscapes, and figurative compositions that represent this location and its people. In many respects, these depictions are self-reflective. Derek Harrison currently lives and works in his downtown Santa Barbara studio, where he predominantly creates oil paintings. He also teaches seminars in painting and sketching and exhibits his work in galleries and museums across the nation.
