Artist Luiz de Souza's Paintings

Luiz de Souza, 36, is a Brazilian plastic artist who was born in Lauro Müller, Santa Catarina, and has lived in Curitiba since 1995. An creative and self-taught artist, he has been sketching since childhood, when he got his first accolades. He worked as an illustrator using the penalty peak method. He began oil painting in 1997, participating in group exhibits and had his first personal exhibition the following year. In the years after, he has participated in several personal exhibits, group exhibitions, and art shows, and has garnered numerous honors.

Early inspirations included Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite paintings. His fascination in surrealist painters encouraged him to learn methods from Magritte, De Chirico, Dali, and Campanella. He created an own method by combining several inspirations that have placed his work in an atemporal framework by developing many approaches, re-interpreting and re-inventing themes.
