Artist Gladys Roldan de Moras
Gladys Roldan De Moras was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1965. She has always been proud of her Colombian and Mexican roots. Gladys' passion for painting is reflected in her colorful works. Each of her paintings reflects the essence of the moment, often they have a hidden meaning, a message that the artist wants to convey to the viewer. Bright colors, soft background, hard edges, light and shadow are all captured by the artist's hand.
Thanks to her talent, she quickly gained recognition as one of the most influential artists praising the Latin American culture.
She began to be interested in painting as a child, but she got into the world of art in a roundabout way. After attending medical school, she eventually gave up her promising medical career to become the fine artist we know today. In 1984 she moved to Austin, where she received her BA from the University of Texas. Today she teaches oil painting at the Coppini Academy of Arts, where Gladys is recognized as a talented teacher.
During the summer holidays, she leaves for her homeland, Mexico, where she studies painting, conducts seminars and looks for new ideas. She loves plein air painting, so she can rarely be seen without a field easel and an umbrella. She constantly reads books about painting and visits museums. Most of all, Gladys is interested in art and books created at the turn of the past and the century before last, which the artist collects and studies.
