1948, Loilier studied painting at the National School of Decorative Arts, but
especially with the painters Pierre Jérôme and Lucien Fontanarosa. Since 1977
he regularly displays numerous personal and group exhibitions. He exhibits

Laetitia in Brie-Comte-Robert, Saint-Martin in Brive, Arcachon and
Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Galerie 23 in Pen Lan, Terre de Contraste in Dinard, Vieceli
in Cannes and Saint-Tropez. Bibliography: The Artists of the Year 2000 (Fus
Art, 1999), Bénézit, LOILIER (Léopard d'Or, 2000), LOILIER, entre Orient et
Occident (Léopard d'Or, Paris 2008), many articles in Univers des Arts
including LOILIER, collection "Artist portrait" special issue, March
2010 .Beyond a naturalistic figuration, Loilier endeavors to seek the emotion
of a presence in a synthetic style where color, line and pictorial material
express themselves strongly, in a balance to be constantly recreated. He uses
an apparently spontaneous, lyrical and gestural language, inherited from the
research of 20th century abstraction. He puts this language at the service of a
personal representation where the human figure, especially female, naked or
dressed, takes center stage. Whether landscapes or women, the same impression
strikes the viewer, an enigmatic side, a mysterious strangeness, leaving the
viewer the pleasure of dreaming. It is with this talent that Hervé Loilier
amazes and moves us.
