Artist-Charles-Pompilius's-Paintings
Artist Charles Pompilius is a brilliant figurative American painter who works mostly in the genre of figurative paintings that are beautifully blended into the interior space. Artist Charles Pompilius also takes portrait commissions. Pompilius created the official portrait of Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2011 and it now stands in the rotunda of the state building in Lansing, Michigan. Pompilius' art has been shown in New York, San Francisco, Milwaukee, Scottsdale, and Birmingham, Michigan, among other cities. He holds residencies at Skowhegan, the Vermont Studio Center, Millay Colony for the Arts, and the Ragdale Foundation. Artist Charles Pompilius earned a BFA from Central Michigan University and an MFA from the University of Iowa. Pompilius has received a Pollack-Krasner Award and a Creative Artist Grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts. Charles, his wife, and his family reside near Detroit.
