Steven Kenny is an American artist. Born in Peekskill, New York in 1962. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, after which he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1984. Stephen devoted his final course at art school to self-study in Rome. The direct impact of European art (works of the Italian, Dutch and Flemish schools, especially in the Baroque style) had a significant impact on his painting style.
After his return, Stephen settled first in New York, for the first time he became famous as a commercial illustrator-freelancer. Clients included Sony Music, Time Magazine, AT&T, United Airlines, Celestial Seasonings, Microsoft and many others. His illustrations have received numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators, various art magazines and art directors of some New York clubs. In 1997, Stephen moved to the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. From that time on, he decided to devote his entire attention to the Fine Arts.
In early 2010, Stephen returned to his home state of New York, where he still lives, works and exhibits his paintings not only in state galleries, but throughout America, as well as in Europe. The beauty and mysteriousness of nature greatly influenced the path he chose, at an early age. The style of Stephen's paintings can be described as a mixture of Baroque and Surrealism. Most often, his works combine the human figure with elements of nature, thereby showing the inevitability of our relationship with the environment and at the same time symbolically hinting at the inextricable connection between man and nature as a whole.
