Paul Van Ginkel. Contemporary Canadian artist was born in 1960 Saint Boniface (The centre of Manitoba’s French community ), Canada. He moved in 1973 with his family to Calgary city in alberta district.
In 1996, looking for change and new experiences, he moved to Vancouver, however, returned to Calgary in 2001. He was educated at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, followed by an MA from Syracuse University in New York.
After completing his education, van Ginkel worked as an illustrator for 6 years.
He was fascinated in the Wild West views and culture. Part of Van Ginkel's importance as an artist came from long trips to major art centers such as New York, Italy, Australia, Mexico, and Santa Fe. Van Ginkel has received many awards and distinctions for his work including: 4 awards from the Calgary Stampede exhibition, and he was recently selected at the Fresco Publishers Show as one of the best Western artists working today.
