Jim McVicker is a A Contemporary American Painter , was born in 1951 in Ontario, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. He wrote his first work in the open air in 1973, greatly influenced by the French impressionists: Monet, Pissarro and Sisley. At the time, he was working as well as taking art classes at Chaffey Community College in Southern California.
In 1975, Jim decided to devote himself entirely to painting: he left his job, college and moved to Santa Cruz, Northern California. Jim McVicker: "I have always loved the upstate and wanted to get away from everything I knew up to this point and start a new life as an artist." In 1977 he moved again, this time to Humboldt, where, according to him, his painting training was just beginning.
In 1984 McVicker met his future wife, Terry. She, as a graphic artist and painter, had a particular influence in his development as an artist. Jim McVicker constantly gets acquainted with works of art, both classical and modern, comprehending new techniques and techniques. Participant in various competitions and exhibitions.
