Adam Styka ; (born April 7, 1890 - September 23, 1959, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, USA) is a Polish orientalist painter.
Born into the family of the Polish painter Jan Styk, who became his first teacher and had a significant impact on the work of the future artist. After graduating from the higher Jesuit school - the Khyrov Jesuit College, Adam Styka went to France and continued his art education in 1908 - 1912 in Paris at the Academie de Beau Arts. In addition, he took a course at the military school in Fontainebleau.
The outbreak of the First World War found the artist in Paris.











Adam Styka joined the French army and distinguished himself in battles with the enemy, for which he was awarded the Order of Merit and received French citizenship. At the same time, the government provided him with assistance for a trip to the French colonies in North Africa. During these travels, Adam became interested in Orientalism and painted a number of paintings, creating a completely new cycle of paintings on the Middle East and Oriental, in particular, Moroccan themes. For an extraordinary sense of the atmosphere and colorism of hot Africa, mastery of color and passion for this direction of painting, Adam Styka was called the "Artist of the Sun". The artist found motives for his paintings during his numerous trips to Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt.
Adam Styka was a multi-genre artist. Staying true to Orientalism, he painted genre paintings, portraits and landscapes.
The artist Adam Styka annually exhibited his works at exhibitions not only in France, but also in other countries of Europe and America, where his work was constantly awarded.
