Evgeny Mukovnin ( художник Евгений Муковнин )  is a contemporary russian painter , was born in 1976 in Voronezh. Graduated from the Voronezh Art-School. Vasiliev in 1996. specializing in advertising design. In 1997. entered the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (RAZhViZ), which he graduated in 2003 with honors.

2003-2005 studied in graduate school under the guidance of Professor, People's Artist of the USSR Glazunov I.S. After graduation, he taught drawing and painting at RAZhViZ and Fedoskinsky art. school.

Since 2001 Evgeny Mukovnin is a regular participant in Russian and international art exhibitions and plein airs. The artist's work has received many awards and prizes. In 2003. Evgeny Mukovnin was awarded a diploma and a prize of the Association of Russian Universities. 2003 Awarded with a diploma “For contribution to Russian culture”. 2004 laureate of the first All-Russian competition named after P.M. Tretyakov. 2006 member of the jury of the All-Russian competition "World of Childhood" under the Moscow government. 2009 winner of the competition “From Ancient Rus to New Russia”.

Evgeny's works have been published in the albums Thousand Russian Artists, Contemporary Art of Russia, RaZhViZ, in the magazines Young Artist, Moscow Journal, Chocolate, etc.

Evgeny Mukovnin is a master not only of landscape, but also of genre painting. On his canvases we will meet the epic hero, and the monk-warrior Peresvet, and A.S. Pushkin ("The sky was breathing in autumn ..."). But the cycle of works, united by the theme of Russia, which we have lost, and nostalgia for it, deserves special attention. These works do not turn us to certain historical events, preserving the lyricism inherent in the author, but surprisingly subtly convey the atmosphere of time, his breath.

A manor house, a porch strewn with Antonov's apples, a sullenly smoking officer and a woman sadly sitting on the steps ... And the sound of a broken string is heard behind this pre-storm calm - the terrible tread of war. The artist already recalls her directly with the title of another picture - "1914". On this canvas, there is also not an echo of battles, but only a lonely woman, frozen on the manor porch against the background of autumn splendor and looking into the distance - to the place where a person dear to her recently disappeared, whose fate in the theater of operations cannot be traced to her, distant from him by thousands versts A piercing figure of a straw widow. But even more piercing is the look of a beardless young man who has barely tried on shoulder straps, leaving in late autumn for the front and for the last time, already at the carriage ready for a long journey, looking at his home, saying goodbye to him forever ...

The smell of rotten foliage and the scent of a bygone era are mixed together, and one can clearly see the immensity that remains outside the framework of the paintings. The ability to fit into these frames, to open, to make the viewer feel the entire volume behind the visible image, to saturate the seemingly simple and lyrical plot with piercing depth - this is perhaps the main advantage of Yevgeny Mukovnin's work.
