Artist Emile Deckers Paintings 


Émile Deckers famous belgian orientalist painter who was born 9Jan - 1885 in Ensival ( a district of the Belgian city of Verviers ) 

Émile Deckers Studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, Belgium then Travelled to France To continue his study at  in Paris by the Two great Painters Charles Auguste Émile Durand, and Évariste Carpentier. He won the first prize in anatomy and the first prize in painting in 1904, was a medalist of the Belgian government in 1904 (higher competition for painting from a living model in 1906), and received the Donnay prize (travel grant). He was twenty-one years old when he won first prize in historical composition and was named member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts' Jury in 1911. He was in the lead.






He traveled to Algiers in 1921 and established himself as an orientalist painter, a well-deserved reputation that would earn him fame. He specialised in scenes of local genres, as well as portraits of young Kabyles, Tuaregs, and tribes from the south and the Atlas. Its invoice resembles that of his predecessor, Édouard Herzig, although it is in oil on canvas rather than gouache on paper. He creates enormous sizes of portraits, typically in three or more views (his hallmark), which are still in high demand among collectors today. In the summers beginning in 1930, he was split between Algiers and his native Belgium. He travelled to the Belgian Congo in 1940 and stayed until 1950.
