Artist Steve Hanks ( 1949 - 2015 ) was born into a military family in San Diego in 1949. He spent his youth on the California shore. He became interested in painting after his family relocated to New Mexico, away from the coast and friends. After high school, Steve attends the Art Academy of San Francisco, where he receives honours. He began working as a designer at Campfire Girls Camp in 1976. Hanks has been experimenting with many techniques for several years: he paints in oils and watercolours, sketches in pencil, and works with acrylics. He gradually established his unique style.

Steve has received several honours and medals. In the United States, for example, he was regarded as the finest artist between 1994 and 1996. His book, which has gained great praise, has over 170 paintings.
