John-Wilhelm Preyer ( Johann Wilhelm Preyer ; July 19, 1803, Mönchengladbach - February 20, 1889, Düsseldorf) is a German artist. Still life master. Johann Wilhelm Preyer Born into a family with a long history of artistic endeavours. Daughter - Emily Preyer, a John Wilhelm pupil, went on to become a still life painter. Gustav Preyer and his sister Louise Preyer were both artists. He attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts from 1822 until 1837. Johann Wilhelm Preyer travelled extensively around Europe, visiting the Netherlands in 1835, Munich in 1837, Venice and Milan in 1840, and Switzerland and Tyrol in 1843. The exceptional talents in painting technique, in which his canvases are near to nature, were the foundation of Johann-Wilhelm Preyer's tremendous success.

"On the permanent exhibition... such magnificent paintings by Johann Wilhelm Preyer ... portraying lush tropical fruits that seem so delicious that the observer, with his mouth full of saliva, feels a tremendous urge not to swallow them...", experts said during the Düsseldorf exhibition... In the amber glass, how many rubies and pearls are hidden? An apple is a drop of time, the ovary of temptation, a fruit that has aroused the worldly... In the delicious centre of an orange, a soiled flower is wailing; he turned flaming gold, white in the past, and innocent. The depravity of a drunken summer gave birth to the fleshy grapes, but the church will cleanse the juice with the blessing of the inebriated. Like modest travellers, chestnuts are the evening's fireplace, with the crackling of logs, the fragrance of smoke, and the recollection of something long ago. Acorns is a children's fairy storey that will live on in the hearts of those who read it.
