Erik Tierolf's Art
Erik Tierolf was born in the Netherlands in 1963 and graduated with a BFA in 1987 from the Holland Academy of Fine Arts Enschede. Eric has shown both solo and in groups around the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Denmark, France, and the USA since 1991. "The drama of an artist who has experienced the disharmony of the world is evident in his paintings, which bear witness to a tragic internal discord." Arrvid .Erik Tierolf's incredible original artwork evokes intense feelings that verge on melancholy and anxiety while yet having an enigmatic, alluring charm that will captivate any visitor.
To say that Erik Tierolf's work is amazing would be an understatement, which is astonishing! While his paintings undoubtedly have a great deal of realism, they also frequently have a bizarre and/or dramatic element. His creations, which feature man as the main character, elicit intense feelings that are frequently unsettling but nearly always have an alluring allure." Even though the artist's compositions tend to be intimate, his body of work also includes more colossal canvases. Their compositions are often dynamic, with the picture being built on a contrast of distant, alternating horizontal planes.
Erik Tierolf's frequent use of a high horizon line heightens the impression of openness and vastness. The paintings' broad visual and plastic language highlights its surreal epicness and sound at the same time. Upon seeing these paintings, one gets the distinct impression that the artist only works in a detached state of concentration. Every tale has such a complex framework. Furthermore, Erik Tierolf's sensitive sensibility clearly leads him to select new problems and themes that modernity presents.
