Walter Linsley Meegan grew up in Leeds and attended Leeds School of Art. Before moving in England, he travelled widely throughout America. He owned two homes, one in Scarborough and one in the Liverpool region. Walter Linsley Meegan was a John Atkinson Grimshaw pupil at Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and his work was highly influenced by Grimshaw's approach. Linsley Meagan and his family immigrated to the United States, where he worked at a studio he purchased on Fifth Avenue in New York. However, the loss of their youngest child, as well as his wife's love for England, drove the family back to Leeds, where the artist died many years later, in 1944.
