Jean-Baptiste Claude Robie's Paintings & Biography

The future artist's youth was terrible. In Brussels, a farmer's great-grandson, a tinsmith's grandson, and a blacksmith's son were born. His parents, Jean-Baptiste Claude Robie and Maria-Catarina Mommar, had eleven children in all, six boys and five girls. Little Jean-Baptiste spent his boyhood in his father's gloomy forge, which was located opposite St. Peter's Hospital in Brussels. Jean-Baptiste Robie remembers his first drawing competition, which was arranged by someone from St. Peter's Hospital for the youngsters on his neighbourhood. The youngsters were permitted to paint on a corner of the building's wall near the hospital's entrance. Children were thrilled to create the most spectacular drawings on the wall, equipped with coal, chalk, and shards from flower pots.

The artist's creativity gained him or her renown and honour. Outstanding still life painters from the late 19th and early 20th centuries include Julien Stappers.

Between 1894 and 1899, Julien Stappers attended both the Higher Institute of Fine Arts and the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts (1899-1901). Initial exhibition in 1903.

He painted a great deal of exquisite still lifes featuring luscious fruits and luxuriant flower hues. In his works, flowers are typically blended, with certain blossoms enhancing the beauty of others. The sense of a miraculous combination of appropriate hues is given by a faint haze, which gives the appearance that lush colours are drawn to with depth of execution and are taken for granted when, in his opinion, they should have been.

Paintings  of Artist Jean-Francois Portel

Jean-François Portel was a Belgian orientalist prolific painter and professor .  J.-F. Portel ( born 3th April - 1818 Vilvoorde - died in 8th February, 1895 in Brussels).

J.-F. Portel studied painting at the Brussels Academy of Arts under the guidance of François Navez, then in Paris with Paul Delaroche. In 1842, the artist won the Great Rome Prize and set off on a trip to Europe and the Middle East. After returning to his homeland in 1847, he held the post of director of the Academy of Arts in Ghent and opened his own art workshop. In 1874 Portel made a trip to Morocco; on his return, he heads the Brussels Academy of Painting.

In addition to canvases dedicated to the East, he painted portraits, pictures of historical and religious themes. He also performed artwork for the Cathedral of St. Jacob in Brussels. Portel's works belong to the neoclassical and romantic styles of painting. His work greatly influenced the development of the Belgian art school. He had many students, among others - Theo van Reisselberg, Emil Votard, sculptor Charles van der Stapen.

Jean François Portel the son of a brewer, he painted a lot, studied a lot and traveled around the world, headed the Academy of Arts in Brussels ... That is, in fact, all. But pictures, pictures! Jean François's oriental beauties are incredibly beautiful. And what kind of oriental woman is without jewelry ?! This is incomprehensible to the mind. In the Arab East, I saw a beggar in rags, pulling out a hand for alms, studded with gold bracelets to the elbow. I saw flocks of harem dwellers buying literally mountains of jewelry in jewelry stores. You can't live without them!

It was difficult for me to choose any one Portel painting for publication. All beauties are good! But on this one, more precisely on her beads, the gaze stopped more often. Googled: the picture is called "Beads". Voila!

His artistic talent was discovered as a child and his family helped further develop his skills. Portel was the first Belgian orientalist painter. He traveled extensively throughout the Middle East and was an influential portrait painter. As a teacher and director of the academy, he taught the basics of painting to students, prioritizing drawing while at the same time giving freedom of expression. Toussaint completed his art studies in Paris,

For this artist it was equally easy painting in all categories, from landscapes and seascapes to beautiful bouquets and still lifes, but in his intimate portrait and genre paintings we find, in the words of Mario de Monci, Toussaint as "the undisputed master of the grace and charm of a woman." ...

His classical art education in painting gave particular precision in conveying subtle emotions, in particular in Paris and London, which influenced his choice of palette and the delicate sensuality with which he endowed the paintings. And most of all he loved to create portraits of women.

Moussin Irjan born in Almaty in 1977.Academy of Arts of Repin in St. Petersburg.Art School "RHoK" in Brussels. Academy of Arts in Antwerp.

He  is an artist creating oil paintings for modern interior. "It is important to me that my paintings are made using high quality materials and to the highest standards - by this I mean the combination of high levels of performance, creative reflection, planning and impromptu execution. Along with my ongoing painting practice, I continue to study painting.I use oil-based paint that is often quite fluid - my painting is like a watercolour technique - using oils. Sometimes I work with thicker paint, that emphasises the expression of a stroke. For me, the picture should 'live'.The piece is completed when it conveys something I intended and want, this could occur even in the early stages of working. To make a good picture, for me, is to know when to stop."

René Magritte' Paintings Part II

Belgian artist René Magritte (1898–1967) rose to fame with his eerie, secretive paintings. Magritte was born and raised in Belgium, where he led a modest and peaceful existence for the majority of his life. The future artist's mother committed suicide when he was 13 years old, and this had an impact on his works. Magritte's association with Andre Breton's group of French surrealists had an impact on her as well. He never gave an explanation for the significance in his paintings, which are still the focus of in-depth investigation and examination. Characteristics of René Magritte's work: the artist has been creating strange paintings with hidden meanings since 1926. One of his most common heroes is a man wearing a bowler hat; Magritte is the model for this style of figure, and he is frequently shown without a face. Subsequently, the artist frequently rejected surrealism, referring to his painting technique as "magical realism." René Magritte is the artist behind well-known works such as "The Son of Man," "Golconda," "Lovers," "The Treachery of Images (This is not a Pipe)," and "The Lost Jockey."

60 surreal paintings by Artist René Magritte ( 1898 - 1967 ) Part I | 20th Century Belgian Surrealist

Artist Rene Magritte's Paintings

René Magritte was a well-known 20th-century surrealist painter from Belgium He is renowned for creating humorous paintings that are also lyrically enigmatic. Magritte is unique among the surrealists in that he takes ordinary materials derived from strange ratios and applies them instead of extraordinary ones. His paintings provoke thought and sometimes resemble riddles. However, these puzzles are intractable since they touch on fundamental issues about existence itself. René Magritte, who is regarded as one of the greatest surrealists of all time, referred to his style of painting as "magical realism." In the French-speaking part of Belgium, in 1898, René François Ghislain Magritte was born into a family of milliners and merchants. Due to his restless nature, Magritte's family frequently relocated cities. Afterwards, Magritte frequently alluded to his distaste for travel and the resulting changes. At fourteen years old, the adolescent experienced a traumatic event that profoundly affected his spirit: his depressed mother committed suicide by drowning in the River. In his biography, René Magritte discussed this terrible occurrence and expressed uncertainty regarding the veracity of his memory of seeing the mother's face covered by a white nightgown as she was being brought out of the water, as well as whether or not René Magritte had imagined this particular detail. Nonetheless, some of the artist's pieces depict situations that appear to be drowning ("Collective Invention") or show faces concealed by cloth ("Lovers," "The Invention of Life," "The Heart of the Matter"). The young guy relocated to Brussels in 1916 in order to enroll in the Royal Academy of Arts. Numerous institutions stopped during World War I, and the Academy took on a central role in student life. Magritte had a tight relationship with literary students, and he has always preferred to communicate with them. René Magritte married Georgette Berger in 1922, upon his discharge from the army, having first seen her when he was fifteen years old. Rene's wife turned become his primary role model, and he even chose to work in the kitchen instead of the studio to be near her. In addition to painting covers for sheet music, movie posters, and advertising, the young artist worked part-time employment as a designer at a wallpaper factory to support his family. Magritte quickly developed an interest in the work of Italian painter Giorgio de Chirico, who pioneered the anachronistic style by daringly combining seemingly contradictory elements of reality. he used several of the creative devices used by de Chirico, including double images, collages, and the juxtaposition of recognizable items. The definitive shape of Magritte's style emerged by the end of the 1920s.
