Liu Yi's paintings
Liu Yi is a Chinese watercolor artist. he was born in Shanghai, where he later worked as a teacher at the Shanghai College of Art and Design after completing his studies at the East China Normal University's art department. His artwork has received various honours, including China's top prize at the Watercolor Painting Exhibition and the top prize at the Seventh National Fine Arts Exhibition. Liu's paintings, which are kept at the National Museum of China as a national treasure, are currently up for auction at Sotheby's. It is not surprise that Liu Yi's watercolours portray the artist's local landscapes, which are controlled, brilliant, and measured China. His subjects are the main characters in his paintings, and the observer can immediately understand their unique mood.
The artist painted the waters of his home Yangtze, and he has a series of watercolours with a river delta motif. Many of the artist's watercolour works on the topic of his native city, Liu created lanes, bridges, and a Chinese garden, all of which are lyrical and filled with an artistic ambiance.

In his paintings, he depicts the borders of the city and lovely gardens, expressing his love for his own region. His floral still lifes are very excellent. But the most renowned Liu presented a ballerina-themed series. Many people connect his works to those of Edgar Degas.
